Bring out your entrepreneurial mindset and get ready to explore the commercial potential of your project. The Business Acceleration Academy (BAA) is an 11 weeks long program that will help you accelerate your project so you can bring research out of the lab and into the economy.
BAA is for projects that have established the technical proof of concept and have a clear commercial focus in medtech, biotech or pharma. We are looking for people who are entrepreneurial-minded and interested in developing the skills that are required to commercialize life science research.
The BioInnovation Institute (BII) takes no equity, and participation in the Business Acceleration Academy is free. The program provides a cash grant of a maximum of DKK 350,000 to cover expenses related to the 3 month participation in the BAA program. The grant can be used to cover the following expenses:
- Salary for staff (up to 250,000 DKK)
- Relocation cost
- Up to 50,000 DKK for companies situated on Funen
- Up to 100,000 DKK for companies situated on Jutland and further away
The cash grant cannot be used for overhead (such as insurance, telephone and utilities) and conference (including traveling).
BII encourages projects to seek additional soft and non-dilutive funding from other institutions to support the project’s acceleration.
A tailor-made, hands-on program
In BAA we will identify exactly what your project needs to accelerate and structure a tailor-made program, which consists of topics such as customer identification, IP rights, business model, marketing, and finance to meet your project’s needs to become a commercial entity. To guide you through these topics we have world-class teachers brought in to facilitate and teach the modules.
At BAA you will be working hands-on in developing your project and you will graduate with an early-stage business plan and a compelling pitch. During the program, you get extensive feedback from your key stakeholders, and your team will have developed the competencies needed to progress the project with your new business plan in hand.
Your network at BAA
During your time at BAA, you will work with the BioInnovation Institute team as well as mentors and subject matter experts from the extensive network. We work with a strong commercial and competitive focus and our approach is collaborative, open-minded and passionate.
The program is full time and based in Copenhagen. Any questions? Check out our FAQ or contact senior business developer, Monika Luniewska Jensen here.
At the end of the Business Acceleration Academy program, BII hosts a DemoDay for all participating companies. See a video of the day here:
